Overview

Moreland City Council in Victoria, Australia wanted to find out what services their citizens valued the most, and what trade-offs they'd be willing to make if they wanted to improve any specific service area.

Unlike local authorities in many other parts of the world, Moreland City Council were not facing a budget deficit so used a Budget Simulator to ask their citizens which services they'd like to improve, and understand the trade-offs that would need to be made by reducing services in other areas if they wanted to improve any specific services rather than just remaining at the current state.
