London Borough of Hackney, UK - Future Spending Priorities (Social Housing)

Closed 25 Aug 2023

Opened 30 Jun 2023

Overview

Following the government's announcement that a 7% rent cap will be enforced on social housing across the country, The London Borough of Hackney was facing an £11 million deficit over the coming four years.

This deficit creates a significant challenge in maintaining current standards across all service areas, with fewer resources and with less financial support.

Understanding that it would not be possible to maintain current services with less investments, The London Borough of Hackney wanted to find out from the community they serve just what services were of most importance to their residents, and where the limited resources should be allocated.

Using Simulator they were able to present a comprehensive list of all services currently provided to their tenants and asked respondents to prioritise their most important services by allocating points to the areas they favoured most.

The results of this activity would help to better inform future investment choices and allow The London Borough of Hackney to provide services that would benefit their residents with the greatest impact.
